The
eagerly awaited enlargement of the shelter is, after a lot of time and efforts,
at last finished. This is one of
the most ambitious and expensive projects carried out by our association. As
some of you know, we have spent several years to carry out this project. Firstly,
we had to obtain financing and then we had to execute the building work.
The aim of the enlargement, far from shelter more animals, is to improve the
welfare of our dogs and cats, and to provide the best veterinary cares. For that,
2 operating rooms, a sickbay and new 11 individual post operatory modules have
been built apart from 2 modules with courtyard for cats, a quarantine zone for
cats and 4 entertainment places.
Since we start using these facilities, we have worked at a steady sterilize
speed, both males and females. So, we can keep the compromise of giving in
adoption all the animals sterilized, (a compromise of sterilization in case of
puppies). We think this is one of the best ways to fight against abandoned
litters.
Furthermore,
we have started working in a cat action protocol as well. So, we expect to keep
under control infectious diseases to prevent infections between cats in the
shelter.
To
finish up, we would like to thank all of our members, volunteers and Spanish and
International collaborators, which have helped us to make real this project with
their work and donations. We would
like to show gratitude to the City Council of Albacete for its economic
contribution and to our staff in appreciation of all they have done.
Many
thanks.
