About us

Translated by Timothy Johnson

Noah's Ark was formed by a handful of Albacetenian animal lovers who, in March of 1989, decided to found a Plant and Animal Protection Association despite thinking that the initial project would not reach its current span.

The Association has since endured through misunderstandings, lack of money, and shortages of man power. However, against those odds, the Association grew from its humble beginnings of twelve initial dogs in a neighborhood patio in Albacete. And after three relocations, it finally became possible to buy a permanent location with a mortgage endorsed by the members of the board of directors.

And here are the fruits of the effort put forth and the work carried out since 1989, without insitutional help, but only the firmness and the spirit that, day by day, is provided to us by those more than 600 partners that compose our association.

Our shelter is occupied on average by about 200 to 300 dogs and about 50 to 60 cats. If you see us from anywhere in the world YOU CAN HELP US in securing that the animals in our care, all of which were abandoned and vagabond, will have improved life conditions.

We hope you enjoy your visit and that, through it, we have become a little more familiar to you. Know that the doors of our Association are always open. A very strong kiss from all of us and a very special "lametón" on behalf of "Pamela", "Michel", "Caty", "Pitufa", "Yako", "Lucas",...... and the other 274 of us, and of the many that are no longer with us but continue in our memory, "Tayson", "Tot", "Momo", etc... Thank you.
